| The
Props 2004...
Here's a quick
look at the props designed for this year's nearly 100% make-over
of DarkWorks. Many of the props from past years are now in
the hands of new owners including the canopy used as the haunt.
So it is basicly like starting over again including the building
which is another story to come...

The Scarecrop prop,
used to alert of the upcoming terror has been redesigned.
I was looking for something a bit on the darker side. Another
thing I want to mention is that almost all the new masks for
this season came from Darkside Studios or Death Studios.

This piece is replacing
the large corpse/gargoyle prop that we have been using on
the side of our house. I am keeping with a "gargoyle
theme" on the way down to the haunt and in the new courtyard
area. The imitation brick on this new prop lines up with the
brick pattern of our house giving it a busted out look.

I had plans to reuse
the two flame/fog towers built last year again this season
but that to was changed as the over all look of Dark Works
progresses right up to the last minute. These two static props
are using the masks from last years pneumatic Twin's. They
will be placed on top of two 6' high pedestals that where
fabricated from the old flame towers. Fog is ducted to the
mouth and nose of each statue as they look upward to the gods.
The hands are a new GraveStalkers item
that will be added to the product line this winter when the
new GS site is launched.

The coffin is being
reused from past props however the corpse inside is new. It's
a commercial foam latex prop that I modified and mounted onto
a pneumatic lift underneath. This shot is before airbrushing.

This pneumatic guy
is chained up inside the haunt. I will refrain from posting
the actions of the props till the DW '04 page is updated after
the holiday. I don't want to ruin the effect for those coming
to the haunt...

This is our Librarian
dude, also pneumatic. Again we used the new GS hands to hold
the book.

Everybody knows this
prop... I wanted it to use less space so I flat backed it
and repainted it to give him a statue look.

One Saturday our
neighbors across the street where having a garage sale. Curious
as I am and always looking for eye candy, I walked over to
see what was available. There is sat, one electric organ and
bench marked "FREE". At first I wasn't sure if it
would fit into the new "Dark Works look".
But after making a few phone calls I was convinced it would
work and brought it to the shop. I gave it a set of pipes
and a new paint job. The Organ Player prop is also pneumatic.

I always wanted a
fireplace built out of stacked skulls. Now I have one built
from our GraveStalkers Foam Skulls. Its' pretty big at 54"
wide x 60" high x 12" deep. The donated logs
inside have been redesigned with a small silk flame unit.

This pneumatic prop
was changed, you might have seen the earlier pictures. He
was originally in the haunt but I wasn't happen with the look
or action so I did a quick re-do. The full size barrel in
front of him holds a air cannon. I will give more detail of
this prop in the DW04 section.

The new witch prop waits in a dark corner
clinging to the walls pretty high up off the floor. Waiting
to be triggered...

I turned this pneumatic prop from last season
into a static prop for the front gate. Now maybe someone might
pay attention to the sign!

This pneumatic pop-up also got a make-over
for this year with a head from another prop I ripped apart.
There is so much more that I haven't documented
yet. More props, tons of furniture, knick knack crap, books
out the wazoo, all new lighting fixtures, candles, picture
frames and artwork... So if you haven't guessed it yet this
years haunt is loaded with decor. Dark Works has evolved once
again...
