Welcome
to Dark Works 2008...
~10 Years in the Making~
What started
out to be an easy year turned into a down to the wire nightmare.
I wanted this year to be over the top. I changed the entire
courtyard area, filling in the pond and building a new outdoor
maze/building area. That was the easy part. Now I had to fill
it with props. Some of the haunt stayed the same...
I removed the
pumkin from last years wickerman and replaced it with this
new lantern.

These guys worked
really well. They are only 2" deep behind the exterior
boards. All the mechanics are inside the torso areas.

Not much change
here.

Still smoking
after all these years but really looking healthy.

First hall inside
the main gate.

First turn inside
to room 1 with the corpse bride prop. The prop would stop
only a few inches from the guests. Also shown, one of 13 new
wall candle fixtures built for this year.

You are now starting
into what was the court yard. This is one of 5 new 4x8 outdoor
rooms that makes up the maze. I used stockade fencing to block
off outside areas between the rooms.

Into rooms 2
and 3 which are connected together.

This is the beginning
of room 3. It was 98% dark, no light until you where under
the prop mounted to the ceiling.

Back outside
into better lighting. This was a great actor area.

The last of the
bucky skeletons as you go into rooms 4 and 5.

I placed the
new pop-up in a corner behind a broken out wall area. I wired
him to a Puppet Master ET and made it go up and down very
erratic.

One of the new
props not shown on the 2008 props page. This is the last outdoor
room. I wanted a tall skinny static prop for this corner with
hands reaching out over the doorway. Another great mask by
MNEfx.

Back outside
into a mini court yard type area full of skulls, bones and
one of the new prop lifters.

This is some
iron work I picked up from a job. A little welding and it
worked out as a great doorway onto the front board walk.

This guy was
set in really low light. He came out of near darkness toward
you before getting a chance to open the door into the main
haunt.

Only a few things
where changed inside the haunt this year.
Top of Page

One of the many
closets. A house isn't worth much with out good storage space
for the undead.
Top of Page

Two great old
timers.
Top of Page

The closet below
was changed a bit however I doubt anybody noticed I added
old clothes to it.

I pulled the
Libarian prop and reworked the book cases. I added an actor
pop-out by cutting one of the book case panels down the center
and hinging them like doors.

I think granny
has the shits! Too many donuts?
Top of Page

Time to clean
up the donuts!
Top of Page

Not any notable
changes here.
Top of Page

Fixed a broken
finger nail on this one if that counts as a change.
Top of Page

Back outside
headed toward the new cattle skull props.
Top of Page

Another older
bucky corpse before turning the corner toward the scarecrow.
Top of Page

The last area
before returning to the living, housed the other lift prop
behind a broken fence panel.
Top of Page

Here are a few
shots from above the new areas. Doesn't look like much but
it was a lot of 12-14 hour days.
Top of Page

And that was Dark Works 2008... Our
10 year Anniversary.
