Welcome to Dark Works 2006...

Another successful season. Enjoy!

DAY LIGHT TOUR

I built a new set of low voltage skull top accent lights for the q-line area. The theme is continued inside the courtyard with taller post lights.

This is my new vampire corpse. It's very large yet light in weight. It has a 10' wing span and 8' in length. Low voltage spots are positioned behind the wings which bounce light off the house and light up the transparent wings.

The main gates and new No-Smoking prop. Be sure to check out the night pictures of this prop.

This is the crank prop from last season that was hanging on the side of our house. He's now a static prop for above the main gates. I added a top arch to the gate which the sign also mounts to.

This year our guests came in the main gates and exit out the room in front of the garage which in past years was an entrance. Another change was the door used to enter the haunt. Guests where directed to walk down the side boardwalk and enter the side door at the back of the haunt. This changed everything inside!

Before walking down the boardwalk to the entrance you got a good look at the new stirring prop.

New sliding windows where created for the side of the building. An actor inside would follow you down the walk and slam each window open as you got to it. The walkway was also hazed with fog via a 4" pipe running down the side of the haunt. The prop at the end made a bunch of people uneasy as they could not tell if it was an actor waiting to pounce.

Just inside the entrance door.

I kept the closet in the same area as last year just moved it down a foot or so to make more room inside the entrance door.

The rat table is also in the same general area as last year but the chained prop has been removed and the entire set was moved into the corner.

As with every year mirrors play a big part in Dark Works. This year I had more guests walk into mirrored walls than ever before. As you can see above it looks like a hallway through a small doorway. But it's really a wall and you need to turn to your right.

I built the pneumatic chained prop into a dark hallway.
Top of Page

Book cases on both sides at the end of the same hallway.
Top of Page

As you turn the corner there is one last book case that you have to pass. This one has a hidden actor area behind it with a new drop down panel. Last season this area had a pneumatic prop behind it. Notice the book case and books have been cut down in depth.

Just around the book case drop down, I built the Zombie pneumatic prop that was in the ceiling for the past few years into the wall.

Next you come to the Dark Works bathroom. The toilet is a good distraction from the new pneumatic Janitor prop waiting behind the wall. As you make your way past the door he leans forward over the toilet sporting his high tech cleaning head gear.
Top of Page

Down another short hall you come to another new pneumatic fast moving prop. She is the creepiest one in the bunch. Her head/neck snaps up at you as you walk by.
Top of Page

More mirrors to walk into!

Good ol' Ozzy still rattling his chains after all these years.
Top of Page

Around Ozzy's hole in the wall you will see a set of old bi fold doors. Past those take you up a long hall that shares one of the sliding windows from the board walk. This provided an additional actor scare from the outside in. The corpse in the frame is on a motion sensor so the light is off as you first see the hall way.
Top of Page

The Librarian prop without his book. Poor guy is all crippled up from holding that damn book for so many years!
Top of Page

Around another dark bend, set back into the wall is the corpse prop that I beat the hell out of last season as it lay on a bench outside the haunt. I now have him all twisted up hiding in a dark hole. Guests trigger the light and air hose that whips around inside his mouth.

Through a set of black curtains takes you into the last room of the haunt. I relocated the fireplace and cut back the dresser so it is only 2" deep.
Top of Page

The last prop you have to pass is the witch the quickly jerks forward to see who you are. Still one of my best.
Top of Page

Out the door to the courtyard.
Top of Page

To your left just outside the door is the pneumatic coffin prop built several years ago.
Top of Page

Here you get a good look at the pond and water wheel in the courtyard.
Top of Page

The new scarecrow towers over you as you walk under the arms. I would say 80% of our guests totally missed this prop. They where to concerned on what was in store for them up ahead. Never the less I love this look and plan on more along the line of this style.
Top of Page

This is a short 6' long tunnel I built to give a different feel to the entrance for the room ahead.
Top of Page

I used the four corpse lanterns from last season in this area along with our wall fountain.
Top of Page

As you turn the corner into this room you notice four things. 1. a open coffin with a corpse directly in front of you. 2. a standing coffin with a corpse torso to your left. 3. an actor dressed as a zombie who followed you into the tunnel standing behind you. 4. no door to exit out through.
Top of Page

Another actor hiding behind the open coffin slams the lid shut and reaches our for you. He then reaches up and pulls a wall lever that releases the back of the standing coffin. The corpse torso swings back out of the way and you now have to walk through the coffin to exit the room.
Top of Page

Through the coffin doorway to your right you exit back to the q-line area in front of the main gates.

NIGHT TOUR

Below you will find the complete tour in the correct order shot in the dark with a little additional lighting.

When you gotta go, you gotta go! Now you know how that toilet got to be the way it is. This isn't the Tidy Bowl Man!

That's it another year down. Thanks to everyone that continues to support TSP and all my insanity.
